Focus On Your Eyes

Thinking about the equipment for your eye exam? See it below!

Tonometry

Have you ever dreaded an eye exam, knowing air would be puffed into your eyes? At Skyline Vision Care, we believe that technology to be outdated. You will never receive a puff of air in your eyes!

Tonometry is a diagnostic tool used to measure your intraocular pressure (IOP). We offer both the iCare and Goldmann tonometry to measure the pressure inside your eye.

Testing your intraocular pressure helps us determine your risk for developing eye diseases like glaucoma.

Digital Retinal Imaging

The Zeiss Clarus camera is like the paparazzi of the optometry world—only it’s out there taking stunning, ultra-wide selfies of your retina, not the latest red carpet fashions. Here’s what makes this fancy eye camera so special:

  1. True-Color Imaging: It captures colors so real you’d think your retina was posing for its close-up in HD. It uses three types of light (red, green, and blue) to make sure every little detail shines through.
  2. Ultra-Widefield Imaging: It is able to snap a photo up to 200° of your retina in a single shot! It’s like the panorama mode on your phone, but for your eye, so even the back corners of your retina can get their moment in the spotlight.
  3. High-Resolution Detail: It allows us to see the tiniest details to detect issues faster to monitor your eye health over tie and detect conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy before they cause serious damage
  4. Layered Views: With its ability to see through different retinal layers, the Clarus peels back all the hidden layers like it’s reading an eye diary, giving us insight into even the deepest secrets of your eye health.
Automated Phoropter

An automated phoropter is like an eye exam on fast-forward, bringing efficiency, accuracy, and comfort to vision testing. With digital precision, it gives repeatable results, and connects directly to health records for seamless data flow. Plus, it’s more comfortable and less intimidating for patients, with a range of extra tests packed in.

Meibography

Meibography is a specialized eye test that provides an up-close look at the meibomian glands—tiny glands in the eyelids that produce the oil layer of tears, which prevents the eyes from drying out. If your eyes feel as dry as the Sahara, it might be because these little guys are on strike, clogged up, or just plain exhausted. This test is crucial for diagnosing meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), a common cause of dry eye.

Based on what we find, we can prescribe custom treatments like warm compresses, eyelid massages, or spa-like therapy for the glands utilizing IPL and radiofrequency.

OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography)

An OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) scan is like an ultrasound for your eyes—but with light waves instead of sound. It’s a high-tech, non-invasive imaging test that captures detailed, cross-sectional pictures of your retina (the back layer of your eye). This test is essential for diagnosing and monitoring eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
