Dr. Allison Walz-Tarkowski grew up in North Platte, Nebraska.  She attended the University of Wyoming from 2001-2005, earning her bachelors in Health Sciences.  She then attended the Illinois College of Optometry graduating in 2009.  While in optometry school she served as the Contact Lens Society president, the student liaison for the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, and volunteered on a mission trip in Honduras where the group provided over 500 eye exams.  Following graduation, she practiced in the suburbs of Chicago for 8 years before deciding to get back to “The Good Life.”

Casually referred to by her patients as Dr. Walz, Dr. Walz-Tarkowski sees patients of all ages, with a special interest in the pediatric population. “Treating my patients like family is something I strive for daily. Working to build relationships allows me to develop custom eyewear for hobbies, work environments, and specialty needs.”  Her favorite thing about optometry is seeing the eyes light up on a kid putting their first pair of glasses on.  With a love for fashion, she will always give you a second opinion so that you can look as good as you see.

Outside of the exam room, you can find me chasing my daughter, Kennedy, or taking in the local cuisine abroad. I enjoy spending time with my family.  My favorite things to do outside of the office are spending time golfing, working out, and perfecting my wine palette.
